Marketer Malou speaks

At Whitevision, we do our best every day to help our clients as well as we can. But who are our employees, really? And what do they think of working at Whitevision?

In this article, marketer Malou tells us how she has seen Whitevision’s marketing department grow over the past few years: “Because Whitevision constantly innovates and is open to new developments, my work is never boring, and the role stays challenging.”

What does it mean to be part of the Whitevision team?

“Within my department, I work closely with my direct colleagues, but the other teams are also very willing to help. If I have an idea or an improvement, I feel free to bring it up. And at Whitevision, something is really done with it.”

“In addition, outings are organised on a regular basis, such as the summer BBQ, Breda Live or, unique this year, a trip abroad! That makes me happy as an employee, too. It’s fun to get to know colleagues better in a different setting.”

How do you approach your role?

“The goal of my role is to communicate Whitevision’s products, updates and news to leads and clients as effectively as possible. It has to be clear what added value Whitevision’s software offers and how it contributes to the happiness at work of our (future) clients.”

“To do this well, I first look at what we want to share with our target audience. That could be a new product or training course, but also a valuable tip or ‘fun fact’. How does it make working with our software even more enjoyable, and what do we want to achieve? Based on that, I tailor the message, the medium and the channel. My work varies enormously, from creating content for the website or newsletter to organising trade show materials or client events. I always keep in mind which information is the most interesting to our lead or client.”

Why do you enjoy working at Whitevision? “I’ve now been working at Whitevision for more than 5 years and have seen the company grow. I started my job in a previous office building, where Frank (director) was my direct manager and I was the only person doing marketing at Whitevision. I was allowed to bring in external parties to help me achieve certain goals. As a marketer at Whitevision, the work is so broad that specialist knowledge and extra hands were needed in certain areas.”

“As time went on and Whitevision grew, so did the need to put marketing more firmly on the map. Over the years, the marketing team has therefore been expanded with 2 direct colleagues and a marketing manager. That made it extra enjoyable for me: I’m perfectly capable of working independently, but bouncing ideas off each other as a team and working together towards a goal makes the work that bit more dynamic.”

“The ambition to keep growing and to develop into a SaaS organisation brings its share of challenges. In the coming period, we will therefore be working on a new website, brand identity and clear positioning. Because Whitevision is constantly innovating and is open to new developments, my work is never boring, and the role stays challenging.”

Whitevision strives to be a top employer. To what extent do you feel this goal is being achieved?

“The term ‘top employer’ will be interpreted differently by everyone. What makes Whitevision a top employer for me is that it is open to change. As an employee, you can always share ideas, improvements or expectations on this subject. They are genuinely listened to and, where possible, acted on. To give an example: a while ago, a session showed that matters around pensions could be arranged better. From there, the organisation took steps, and we now have a good collective pension scheme.”

Is it important to show ambition at Whitevision?

“If you want to develop, both as an individual and as part of a team, that is definitely possible at Whitevision. Taking training courses and degree programmes is one of the extras Whitevision offers its employees to help you pursue your ambitions. You are genuinely encouraged to bring out the best in yourself. Last year, for example, I took a ‘storytelling’ workshop with part of the team. During this session, we worked together to make the Whitevision pitch even sharper and more consistent.”

What does an average working day look like for you?

“On Mondays, we start the week with a team meeting. In one morning, we catch up with each other so that we are fully up to date. Because our work varies so much from week to week, and often has a shorter turnaround time, every week looks different. After that, I work out the points we discussed in more detail and plan my schedule for the week.”

“Sometimes I spend more time organising a large trade show (AFAS Open, Exact Live, Bouwbeurs or the Ketenstandaardcongres), where I take care of the booth design, promotions and/or materials, and at other times I spend more time on, for example, collecting content for the website or a newsletter.”

“It’s also important for marketing to stay in touch with other departments within the company. When necessary, I have a few meetings from time to time to coordinate things around a webinar or video.”
