Customer Success Manager Tobias speaks

At Whitevision, we do our best every day to help our clients as well as we can. But who are our employees, really? And what do they think of working at Whitevision?

In this article, Tobias Meijll tells us how he grew from consultant to customer success manager: “I have a lot of freedom to organise my work independently, but my colleagues are always available to help and to contribute to our shared goals.”

What does it mean to be part of the Whitevision team?

“Three years ago, I joined Whitevision because I wanted to belong to a group that is working towards something together. I’ve absolutely found that here. And the goal appeals to me: I’m always looking for ways to boost efficiency myself. At Whitevision, I can do that for both client processes and internal processes.”

“I can also create a nice mix between planning my own tasks and contributing to client success. There is a visible link between my efforts and what clients achieve with our software. That motivates me! I also really like that I can carry out each task at the workplace that suits it: at the office, at home or at a client’s site. That variety is great!”

Is it important at Whitevision to show ambition?

“Definitely! At Whitevision, I started as a consultant. But the work I did before that consisted of organising meetings, events and workshops. When I started here as a consultant, I saw that at Whitevision we could still make use of many opportunities in that area. I mentioned that. After that, I worked with Whitevision to create the position of customer success manager, to organise workshops and events for clients and colleagues. That has always been my work: bringing people together to move forward together.”

“So Whitevision really looked at how we could make the best use of my skills, both internally and externally. Once a quarter, for example, I also facilitate a look back at the past quarter and a look ahead to the coming quarter. I do this within our team as a process facilitator. I have experience with this too, so I enjoy developing that ambition further!”

“I was given the space to link my role to Whitevision’s ambitions and to my own talents."

Whitevision strives to be a top employer. To what extent do you feel the company achieves this ambition?

“When Whitevision does something, it does it well! Outings, drinks, training courses and employee development: Whitevision always wants to deliver a level of quality it can be proud of. For example, I was really given the space to shape my role, in a way that is linked to the company’s ambitions and to my own talents and interests. That’s really great. Whitevision also regularly organises special social events for employees, such as a trip to Morocco to celebrate our 18th anniversary. We also organise events for our ERP partners. And we do it down to the last detail, because half measures don’t exist for us. That’s what I like about Whitevision: the word ‘top’ is the guiding principle!”

Working independently and wanting to collaborate are central at Whitevision. How do you see the balance between the two reflected in your work?

“When I help clients as a consultant, I often do that independently. But if I organise an event for 30 clients, I work together with our office manager and the consultants who will be present. In the beginning, I thought I had to do a lot myself, because I had worked as a freelancer for 10 years before this. But I soon found out that this isn’t necessary at Whitevision. You can hand over responsibilities to the people they belong with. And together, we’re very good at finding the right balance. It’s also great that every Monday, during the team lunch, we look back on the past week together. We discuss, for example, what came out of a training course and what everyone contributed, but also what’s on each department’s mind. That’s nice to see, and you stay connected to each other!”

“Whitevision always wants to deliver a level of quality it can be proud of.”

One of Whitevision’s guiding principles is ‘long-term relationships with satisfied clients’. How do you see this reflected in practice?

“You develop long-term relationships by making sure clients keep seeing that choosing Whitevision was the right decision. That’s why we respond quickly and show people in a tangible way how they can get the most out of our solution. Recently, a client told me how nice it is that we always respond to people at lightning speed. We set up that process deliberately. After all, we find it extremely important to respond quickly to clients’ questions and wishes. It also means we can immediately act on opportunities we see in the market. That’s how you keep clients satisfied!”

Whitevision wants to rid the world of repetitive work. How do you support clients in this respect?

“As a Customer Success Manager, I help existing clients get more out of our solution. We keep developing, and we want them to make maximum use of all the possibilities. That way, they can keep working even faster and more easily. We approach customer success management proactively: we don’t wait for clients to approach us, but invite them, for example, to take part in an inspiration session when we think they would benefit from it. This approach fits the SaaS direction we’ve taken as a company: we innovate, inform clients about innovations and give them the chance to experience them quickly for themselves. Although my main role is now customer success manager, I still carry out consultancy work. That way, I also help new clients get as much as possible out of Whitevision, from their very first introduction to our solution!”

How does Whitevision support you in your development?

“I made the move from consultancy to sales. This meant I had to learn different skills. It’s great that I receive internal coaching for this. Colleagues with more experience in sales help me with this. That’s how I’m developing myself to be more effective in the sales process.”
